Morocco will construct one new stadium and improve six others to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

Morocco plans to construct a big stadium in Benslimane, close to Casablanca, and improve six others in preparation for co-hosting the 2030 World Cup, the prime minister’s workplace stated on Friday.

A deal was signed the identical day between the federal government and state-owned fund CDG to finance the brand new stadium to be prepared by 2028 for a complete value of 5 billion dirhams ($500 million), the workplace stated in an announcement.

The six stadiums – to be renovated to host the African cup of countries in 2025 and the 2030 World Cup – are within the cities of Agadir, Casablanca, Fez, Marrakech, Rabat and Tangier, it stated.

Earlier this month, FIFA allotted the 2030 World Cup to Morocco, Spain and Portugal but in addition stated Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay would host three matches to mark the event’s centenary.
